Education
International School for Social and Business Studies (ISSBS) develops and carries out first and second cycle study programmes in the fields of social sciences, economics, business and administrative studies. The faculty is also active in the fields of research and international cooperation.
ISSBS has four accredited study programmes, which are internationally comparable and developed in accordance with Bologna guidelines:
- 3-year first cycle university study programme Economy in Modern Society,
- 3-year first cycle professionally oriented higher education study programme Business in Modern Society,
- 2-year second cycle master's study programme Knowledge Management,
- 1-year second cycle master's study programme Management and Quality in Education, which will be carried out for the first time in the academic year 2010/2011.
Study programmes Economy in Modern Society and Knowledge Management were first carried out in the academic year 2007/2008, whereas the programme Business in Modern Society was introduced in the academic year 2008/2009. Beside mentioned study programmes the ISSBS also offers consulting, programmes for advancement and lifelong learning programmes.
ISSBS has acquired concession for both undergraduate study programmes and the postgraduate programme Knowledge Management which makes studying free of charge for full-time students.
ISSBS's staff is composed of acknowledged Slovene and foreign higher education teachers and researchers with significant experience in the fields of higher education teaching and research. Furthermore, the faculty has established cooperation with numerous successful field experts with research and/or professional achievements.
Research
ISSBS carries out scientific-research and developmental activities in the fields of economics, social, administrative and organisational sciences, management, education, computer science and informatics, law, etc. Despite its short existence the faculty can already show important research achievements. In the future we intend to upgrade our research activities, also through more intensive participation of our students.
Lifelong learning
ISSBS carries out lifelong learning programmes which means that individuals can at any time choose to study one or more courses (parts of study programmes). They attend the courses with full-time or part-time students. For completed course requirements they receive a certificate with credit points which are taken into account in programmes of further education.
International cooperation
One of the faculty's key priorities is international cooperation in the field of higher education and research, which is achieved through:
- Socrates Erasmus exchanges of students, teachers and other staff,
- bilateral agreements with foreign higher education institutions,
- guest lectures of acknowledged foreign lecturers at the ISSBS,
- participation in international research projects.
