Students from the EU member states can visit Slovenia without a visa. All you need is a valid identity document. You don't need a residence permit for the first three months of your stay in Slovenia, but the law requires you to report to the police.
If your stay in Slovenia is longer than three months, you are required to get a residence permit. Requirements for obtaining a residence permit are the following:
- a valid identity document (e.g. a passport),
-
a valid proof of being registered with an education institution in Slovenia (a confirmation of registration with the ISSBS),
- settled health insurance, and
-
adequate financial means for living in Slovenia (student's statement is sufficient).
Please have in mind that the application procedure can take up to two months, therefore you should submit all the required documents on time. The residence permit has to be confirmed at the Administrative unit in Celje within three days after your arrival.
Students from non-EU states have to obtain a residence permit or visa before coming to Slovenia.
