Currency
Slovenia's currency is euro. In Slovenia you can use most credit cards including Visa, MasterCard and American Express. You can withdraw money on marked ATMs in towns and at petrol stations. Please be aware that there are certain limits to how much money you can withdraw per day. Most of our banks are open on weekdays between 8.30 and 12.00 and between 14.00 and 16.00. You can exchange foreign currencies at banks.
Traffic restrictions
Fines for over speeding are very high in Slovenia. The speed limit in settlements is 50 km/h, outside of settlements 90 km/h, on roads reserved for motor vehicles 100 km/h and on highways 130 km/h. The lights of your vehicle have to be turned on 24 hours a day. You have to use winter equipment on your vehicle between 15 November and 15 March. You have to use seat belts at all times. The use of mobile phones is prohibited while driving.

Voltage in Slovenia is 220 V.
Water
In Slovenia tap water is drinkable.
Phoning
You can make phone calls at post offices which are usually open on weekdays between 8.00 and 19.00 and on Saturdays until 13.00. To use public phones you need a telephone card, which can be bought at tobacconist's, at stationers or at a post office. When making an international phone call you have to dial 00, a foreign country's international code and a phone number. To call Slovenia you have to dial 00, the national code 386 and a town code (Celje - 3, Maribor - 2, Ljubljana - 1). You can call national telephone information service at 1188 or international telephone information service at 1180. Most of the people in Slovenia use mobile phones. You can borrow a SIM card from one of our mobile operators (Mobitel, Simobil, Tušmobil, etc.) for the duration of your stay in Slovenia.
