Despite its short existence the International School for Social and Business Studies (ISSBS) has already made significant research achievements. On 16 April 2008, Slovenian Research Agency on the basis of the 23rd and in accordance with the 14th article of the Rules on the Contents of and Method for Keeping Registers of Research and Development Institutions (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, no. 122/2006) registered (as number 2711) the ISSBS in the register of research institutions and organisations.

ISSBS's Research Group for Social and Business Studies (registration no. 2711-001) consists of qualified experts in the fields of economics, business, administrative and organisational sciences, management, education, computer science, informatics, law, etc. Its main tasks are to implement the faculty's research and developmental guidelines, as well as carry out research and developmental activities in accordance with the highest standards of research excellence in the fields of social and business sciences. Although the research group was registered only in 2008, it has already made significant research achievements and currently participates in several national and international projects.

ISSBS's research group is currently carrying out activities in accordance with the faculty's research and developmental vision for the period 2008-2013 outlining the following main goals:

• participation of the research group and its researchers in scientific-research and developmental projects in the Republic of Slovenia, EU and worldwide,
• scientific-research development of the research group's existing members and its enlargement with the addition of new members,
• assurance of high standards of scientific-research excellence in all the research group's activities,
• cooperation with other research organisations and groups in Slovenia, EU and worldwide.

The research group aims to achieve the set goals through the following activities:

• carrying out scientific-research projects applied for under public tenders in the Republic of Slovenia and EU (applied, target and other research projects, ESS), independently or in cooperation with other research organisations and groups,
• carrying out other scientific-research projects in the Republic of Slovenia, EU and worldwide, independently or in cooperation with other research organisations and groups,
• inclusion of students in research activities,
• spreading knowledge and contemporary findings in the fields of social and business sciences in the Republic of Slovenia, EU and worldwide,
• spreading knowledge through publishing new scientific-research findings in relevant periodicals and monographic publications in the Republic of Slovenia, EU and worldwide.

Through these activities the research group is establishing solid foundations for further implementation of ISSBS's research and developmental vision.
