Young researchers

One of the roles of the Slovenian Research Agency is the implementation of the young researcher programme, i.e. financing their postgraduate studies and research training. The purpose of the programme is to promote research, reduce the age profile of research groups at higher education institutions and institutes, support the knowledge transfer between research and teaching, and increase the human resource potential for the needs of other users from the public and private sectors.

Features of the young researcher programme:

  • during their postgraduate studies, young researchers participate in research in the frames of programmes, basic or applied research projects;
  • they have regular, fixed-term employment contracts;
  • the Agency provides resources for their salaries, social contributions, material and non-material costs of their research and postgraduate studies.

In 2010, the International School for Social and Business Studies through a public tender for proposing candidates for mentors of new young researchers for 2010 acquired two new mentors for two new young researchers. In the selection procedure, based on the Rules on the Training and Financing of Young Researchers in Research Organisations (Slovenian Research Agency), the following two young researchers were selected:

  • Valentina Jošt, univ. dipl. polit.
  • Vesna Skrbinjek, prof. mat. in geo.
